ABOUT THE CTA
Our Aim...
The Carmarthenshire Tourist Association is the independent trade membership association for the county's tourism industry. Members of the CTA have access to a wide range of useful benefits and services aimed at helping them to develop their business - and subsequently help grow tourism in our county.
CTA provides our members with marketing assistance, money saving offers, training opportunities, networking events, up-to-date industry information, business advice and support.
We exist to give the county's tourism industry a voice at a local, regional and national level - and here to look after the industry's interests and represent the business views.
Our History...
Established in 1996 by the amalgamation of business owners and local associations of Llanelli, Carmarthen and Dinefwr - the CTA was registered as a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee. As such, any profits earned by the company can only be used to support our member businesses and further develop and promote tourism in Carmarthenshire.
Running the CTA...
The Carmarthenshire Tourist Association is run by a board of directors elected from representatives from our member businesses and who volunteer their time and efforts to the Association. A small team of hardworking, dedicated and professional individuals are based at the Business Resource Centre and are employed to carry out the day to day running of the CTA and ensure that members receive the high quality support, advice and benefits they require.
From 2004 to 2008, the Carmarthenshire Tourist Association was successful in receiving European funding to carry out its activites which has led to the further development of the CTA. From 2009, the CTA is mainly reliant on its membership fees to carry out its work, in addition to some funds devolved from the South West Wales Tourism Partnership to deliver and undertake activities on its behalf.
The CTA works very closely with a number of organisations and in particular, Gallu - our training and deveolpment arm, the South West Wales Tourism Partnership and Carmarthenshire County Council's Tourism & Marketing Division. |
